Qibla direction guide

The Qibla is the direction to the Kaaba in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Muslims face it during salah (prayer). The direction changes from place to place, so your location matters.

How to face the Qibla

  1. Allow your location

Tap Find Qibla and allow location access. GetQibla uses it in your browser to calculate the direction from where you are.

  2. Allow compass access

If your phone asks for compass or motion access, allow it. This lets the arrow respond as you turn your phone.

  3. Move your phone slowly

Hold your phone steady and move it slowly until the arrow turns green. Keep it away from magnets and large metal objects.

  4. Face the arrow

When the arrow is green, point the top of your phone in that direction. That is the Qibla from your location.

How Qibla direction is calculated

GetQibla uses your latitude and longitude and the Kaaba’s fixed coordinates to calculate the initial great-circle bearing, the shortest direction over the Earth’s surface. It compares that angle with the heading from your phone. The calculation runs in your browser.
